'Utopia Purple' - A signed, limited edition silkscreen print by Dan Baldwin, from the 'Utopia, Delirium and Infatuation' set of 9. 'Utopia (Purple)' is also available in pink or blue. Printed at Coriander Studios, published by CCA Galleries.
Dan Baldwin first released prints in 2006. This exciting suite 'Utopia, Delirium and Infatuation' are the first handmade silkscreen editions, where the artist has embraced the medium in its full potential - drawing directly onto True Grain. True Grain is a unique, high-quality drafting film used by artists and printmakers to produce images for exposure onto silkscreens. Each print in this suite has been created by the artist's hand as first edition images in three colour ways.
Baldwin’s suite of nine variations are made in homage to one of the leading figureheads of Pop Art, American artist Andy Warhol. Warhol’s iconic flower paintings from the 1960's are some of Baldwin’s favourite works, inspiring him to take some of Warhol’s original sources and recreate it in Baldwin’s own edgy style, introducing different motifs such as birds, barbed wire and a skeletal hand.
“It’s a subtle nod to the master as he was one of the first artists that inspired me at art school in early 1990's. This new way of making prints is an entire new exploration into print, and takes things to new places which is hugely inspiring.” - Dan Baldwin.
Print available individually or as part of the 'Utopia, Delirium, and Infatuation' set. Set prices are as follows:
Set of 3: £2610
Set of 6: £5040
Set of 9: £7200
