‘Winter Walk, Highgate Ponds’ – A signed, limited edition silkscreen with collage and pastel by artist Lucy Farley. Printed at Coriander Studio, published by CCA Galleries.
Following her exhibition and printmaking demonstration at Phillips in 2017, Lucy Farley produced this charming edition of 50 limited edition silkscreen prints. This personal edition embodies the artist’s love for a particular person and landscape, whilst celebrating a relationship she has had with Hampstead Heath ever since she first started walking there when studying at the at the Royal College of Art.
The image itself is inspired by winter bathing in the Highgate Ponds. A core theme in Farley’s work is the documentation of history and passing of time told through a specific landscape, using and manipulating traces of imagery left behind, both physical and metaphysical. Farley associates the resonance and spirit of Hampstead Heath with her artistic idols who have lived there, including Henry Moore, the Nicholsons, and British artist Keith Vaughan, in particular his drawings, paintings, and journal entries written whilst living in Downshire Hill.
“This drawing captures a quiet, fleeting moment in a familiar landscape, but also commemorates Vaughan's solitary and thoughtful fascination with watching and painting the figure in nature amidst all the elements." - Lucy Farley
