“My work now is about contrast, blending Western and Eastern elements together to create harmony.” – Jackie Tsai

Jacky Tsai’s artworks unite East with West; his distinctive imagery becoming a large cultural melting pot, bubbling with vibrant colours, significant motifs, and intriguing narratives from opposite ends of the globe. Tsai’s fascination with these cultural differences is blended deeply into the very essence of his work, juxtaposing ancient Chinese craft traditions such as lacquer carving, painted porcelain, and silk embroidery, with heavily westernized pop iconography such as superheroes and bold colour palettes. In doing so, the artist creates aesthetically and culturally rich visual narratives, designed to stimulate new ideas surrounding beauty, mortality, and identity.
