“They are of a moment. I love that, just a moment in time; it captures joy.” – Carinthia West
Carinthia West’s photographic portfolio features some of the most celebrated names in music, film, and society over the past fifty years. Through the close friendships she has with her subjects, she captures natural day-to-day snapshots of classic sixties icons, rock stars, red-carpet personas and even royalty, making for honest, poignant portrayals of otherwise social deities. Some of West’s highly recognisable images includes the black and white photographic stills she took of the inflatable pig 'Algy', which was used as the album cover for Pink Floyd's Animals album in 1976. These images alone have appeared in several international exhibitions including London, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, along with forty other images in her archival collection entitled 'Hanging Out'.
