MARIA RIVANS
Contemporary collage artist Maria Rivans creates richly layered works
that merge vintage iconography, surreal symbolism and intricate
storytelling into dreamlike visual worlds. In For Love and Open Hearts,
Rivans explores themes of consciousness, spirituality and emotional
connection through the timeless language of still life.
At the center of the composition stands a rare French Hollandais
Nouveau vase dated 1759, re-imagined using the artist’s own photographs
of the Greenhills Estate and its gardens. Surrounding it, a constellation of
symbolic imagery unfolds: butterflies representing transformation, a
Sacred Heart symbolizing devotion and consciousness, and geometric
studies hinting at the hidden structures of reality.
Balancing science with spirituality and beauty with vulnerability,
the work becomes a meditation on memory, self-reflection and what it
means to live with openness and curiosity. Rich in intricate collage
detail and layered symbolism, For Love and Open Hearts invites viewers
into a contemplative world where meaning reveals itself slowly.
