'Matchboxes' - A signed, limited edition 22 colour silkscreen print with glazes by Sir Peter Blake. The companion piece to 'Matchboxes II' (2012). Printed at Coriander Studios, published by CCA Galleries.

Blake’s lifelong hoarding mania comes to the fore in this silkscreen of a selection of matchboxes he has collected over the years. Turning this collection into a piece of fine art harks back to the core of Blake’s pop art principles: that outsider art, folk art, commercial art and everyday objects should be viewed with a fresh perspective; should be viewed as valuable and beautiful. Here Blake has gathered a group of vintage matchboxes from around the world (including examples from France, Canada, America, El Salvador, Russia, Portugal, Sweden, the Czech Republic, China and India) creating a composition of surprising visual diversity that evokes a by-gone era.
