Cattrell’s work is very much inspired by the natural landscape, with a particular focus on where the boundaries of the sea, sky, and land come together. The artist fuses drawing, tone and colour to create spectacular abstract landscapes; visions interpreted through tender brushstrokes and a dreamy colour palette. Printmaking plays a fundamental role in how Cattrell develops her work, using the transparencies of screen printing as a means of building up the image, the same way she makes paintings by building up thin layers of paint that are almost like watercolours in substance.
