‘Watercolour with Silkscreen Underlay 13’ – A signed watercolour with silkscreen underlay by Louise Cattrell, in a series of sixteen unique works.
Cattrell’s work is very much inspired by the natural landscape, with a particular focus on where the boundaries of the sea, sky, and land come together. The artist fuses drawing, tone and colour to create spectacular abstract landscapes; visions interpreted through tender brushstrokes and a dreamy colour palette. Printmaking plays a fundamental role in how Cattrell develops her work, using the transparencies of screen printing as a means of building up the image, the same way she makes paintings by building up thin layers of paint that are almost like watercolours in substance.
“The movement in the paint responded to the ideas behind Coast Rock - where a rock within sight of the shore becomes a landmark and guide for those on both land and sea. Encompassed by all that the change of light and weather does to transform the known into the mysterious." – Louise Cattrell
