‘Valentino Yellow’ -A signed, limited edition silkscreen print by American artist Edy Ferguson. Printed at Coriander Studio, published by CCA Galleries.

‘Valentino Yellow’ combines a vintage photograph of the fashion designer Valentino Garavini with an image of a model wearing a yellow dress of his design. The artist sourced the original image for ‘Valentino Yellow’ in the picture collection of the New York Public Library. With a great appreciation for Valentino’s contribution to fashion, and viewing his clothes as a work of art in themselves, Ferguson was instantly drawn to the 60s photograph of a young Valentino starting out in the industry. The artist knew that this black and white, documentary-like photo would work well with the image of the yellow dress; “It's only when you cut up an image that you start to see these interesting details- fragments of real life frozen in time”.

Ferguson creates silkscreen prints from an original collage, seeing print as a means of “accentuat[ing] the energy and the life of the collage”, making the overall image become more fluid. With an interest in the photographic image and pure abstraction, the artist enjoys combining the different media to echo the juxtapositions of the everyday world; “I combine two different images to tell a third story”.

Please note the print is subject to availability and prices may change.
